Want to get involved and connect with others at Grace?
Here are some other ways to get started.

Worship with us! Check out our worship schedule here.

Sign up for our Weekly Update to receive information on what’s coming up.
Every Friday we send out an electronic newsletter with information on what’s happening at Grace – with announcements, calendars, lectionary readings, prayer lists, reflections and other items of interest, it’s a great way to keep up on all the latest information.  Once you’re on the list, you’ll automatically receive our monthly newsletter as well.  Click here to sign up.

Join us at between the 9:30am and 11:00am services.
One way to begin connecting with the life of Grace Church is to come to our refreshment hour in Memorial Hall at 10:10am on Sundays throughout the school year. It’s a great opportunity to visit informally other parishioners and learn more about what’s going on at here at Grace. Or, you can grab some coffee and carbs and head to the informal Bible study of the days readings that goes on in Fenton Room. On some occasions there will be a parish forum presented by our Adult Spiritual Formation Commission —interesting and informal presentations on a host of timely topics. Stay as long — or short — a time as you like — it’s a lively, informal, welcoming crowd! Contact Vern Becker for more information about the Adult Spiritual Formation.

Sign on to help with an outreach project or special event.
Our the second Saturday of every month we gather in Memorial Hall  kitchen to make sandwiches for a Midnight Run, and during the winter we can always use volunteers to support our Helping Hands shelter ministry.  Volunteers help transport our weekly food collection to the People to People food pantry in Nanuet, and coordinate seasonal food and gift drives for local shelters.
The Fellowship commission coordinates events that bring the Grace Church family closer together, from potlucks and receptions to hikes and holiday parties.  There are one-time opportunities – like baking a cake – to longer-term special projects. Your energy, creativity and sense of fun will always be appreciated.

Help out with our Church School and Youth Programs
Check out our active youth program  – there are always opportunities for you and your family to be involved, from helping with special events like the Christmas Pageant or Junior Youth Group Nightwatch to teaching a class or supporting a special fundraising project. And you don’t need to have kids in the church school — we’ve had wonderful teachers and volunteers from all points on the age spectrum, from young adult to well past senior discount qualification.
Contact Annie Hekker Weiss our Church School Director for more information.

Join the Parish Choir
The Parish Choir is an intergenerational ensemble which welcomes members from the 7th grade up. The choir sings on the 1st and 3rd Sundays at the 9:30am service, with a rehearsal at 9:00am. There is no audition and no long-term commitment: just show up in the gallery if you would like to sing! Contact Brandon Beachamp for more information.

Take on a role in the worship services or join the Altar Guild
Each week dedicated parishioners lend their time and talent to make our worship services run smoothly. Ushers, Acolytes, Lay Readers, and Chalice Bearers all perform vital roles in our services. For more information on how you can play a part, contact Kickie Fulmor.

The Altar Guild is dedicated to preparing the altar for worship, supervising seasonal church decorations and flower arrangements, and preparing the church for sacramental rites — baptisms, confirmations, weddings, and funerals — for those in the parish and beyond. If you enjoy working with flowers, with beautiful fabrics, with gleaming silver and brass, if you would like to learn some of the behind-the-scenes secrets of making the liturgy happen, this might be the place for you.

Make an effort to attend special events
Throughout the year we host special events – like the Harvest Festival, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Lenten education series, Advent Party and Welcome brunches — celebrating the liturgical seasons and drawing us together in fellowship.  Watch the Weekly Update and Messenger and don’t let these opportunities for getting involved – either as a behind the scenes volunteer or as a guest at the event – pass you by.  Contact Thayer for more information.

Join a Committee
A busy network of committees is essential to advance the work of Grace Church. We have ongoing commissions overseeing the work of Adult Spiritual Formation, Social Ministries, Youth, Welcoming, and Fellowship, as well as Finance, Property, and Stewardship committees.  Other committees form to fulfill a specific purpose, and then disband when the work is done.  For more information about serving on a committee, contact Thayer in the main office.

Volunteer at the Thrift Shop
Like customer service?  Grace’s Thrift Shop is an active consignment shop in downtown Nyack that generates income used to support community outreach programs, our diocesan assessment, and special church projects. Volunteers are always welcome, either for regular shifts or as substitutes.
Contact: Theresa Bergen or Kickie Fulmor, Thrift Shop Managers  845-358-7488

All our commissions are open to all and welcome new members enthusiastically.
