Spiritual Growth
The Adult Spiritual Formation Commission creates a wide variety of opportunities for spiritual discussion, exploration, and education throughout the year. Its mission is to stimulate, support, and enable the spiritual growth of parishioners, and to deepen our faith community’s awareness of God’s presence and our commitment to follow the path of Christ. Programs include:
Parish Forums: Informal get togethers that are held on occasion during the hospitality time between the 9:30am and 11:00am services. Presenters are drawn from the parish and beyond, and topics range from those specific to Grace Church, to issues facing our community, the larger Episcopal Church, and the world. Your input and suggestions are welcome! |

Contemplative Prayer Group: Meets alternate Wednesdays (2nd & 4th) at 6:00pm in Bradley Chapel. Through offerings of music and sacred readings, the time of silence, reflection, and prayer offers a time set apart from the world and fosters a contemplative awareness of God's presence. Led by Jan Valentine. (Alternates with Healing & Wellness service on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays.)
Men’s Prayer Group: Meeting twice monthly on Thursdays at 7:00am, this group is open to all men in the parish.
Lenten Education Series: Scheduled on selected Wednesday evenings during Lent, the series focuses on a different topic each year. Evenings begin with a simple supper prepared and served by parishioners.
Bible Study: Two weekly opportunities are offered to study and discuss the lectionary readings for the week. On Thursdays at noon, participants bring their lunch and gather in Patterson Hall for Brown Bag and a Bible, and on Sundays between the 9:30 and 11:00am services they gather in the Fenton Room (behind the stage) to talk about the morning's readings. Both discussions are led by parishioner Charles "Pat" Reynolds.
Throughout the year the commission plans a variety of other events, and it welcomes input on potential topics.
