How do you show that you are grateful?  How do you show that you are thinking of others?  How did Jesus show this to us?

On today's ZOOM call we will be talking about being grateful and what that looks like and how Jesus teaches all of us to be full of GRACE.

Hello to my wonderful Grace Church School kids and families.  I wish we could all be together but until that happens, I wanted to reach out to let you know that the Grace Church Family is here for YOUR family.  Today and every day.

One of my favorite Mister Rogers’ quote is:  “Anything that's human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting and less scary.”  One of the things I encourage all of us to do right now is continue to be kind, connect and talk with each other. No matter what!

Since the teachers and I can't physically be there for you, we wanted to give you some lessons to learn and activities to do with your families each week.

Let's celebrate Earth Day!

We are asking all of our families to think about what they are doing and what they will do to make the Earth a better place during this time.

Saying no to plastic straws, plastic bags (and baggies!) all help save our planet.

Send Annie (AnnieHekker @me.com) pictures of how you are making this earth a better place!

Decorate your front door for Palm Sunday

Also, since we are not going to be able to make palm crosses in person, we are asking that everyone decorates their door with items from home or their yard.  Here some examples for inspiration.

Lesson - March 29

This week's lesson is that:
God can give us the courage to face new things.

THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS LESSON IS:

Kids will learn that new things do not have to be scary.

MEMORY VERSE:
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” - Psalm 56:3 (NIV)
Ask the kids what they think the writer was trying to say when he wrote these words. Then ask them how this verse is connected to today’s story.

SUMMARY:
New things can be scary; whether it’s not being in school and taking lessons at  home, not being able to be with friends or just trying something you’ve never done before. But with God by our side and leading us, we don’t have to be afraid.

SIMPLE PRAYER:
Dear God,
Help us to trust you and remember you are with us so that we will not be afraid of new things.
In Jesus’ name, Amen

Activity

FAMILY GAME TIME WITH LEGOS
RECYCLED LEGOS ITEMS NEEDED

INSTRUCTIONS:
Prior to the game, build two Lego buildings or other Lego structures. They can be identical or different, as long as they have the same number of pieces.
Give each contestant 3 minutes to turn their Lego building into something new - a vehicle, a car, a creature, anything - using the same number of Legos. Ask the contestants to secretly write down what their new creation is, then give family members who were not building a chance to try to guess what the new creation is.

VARIATION:
Feel free to alter the number of participants by providing more than two structures or choosing teams of two rather than individuals.

WHAT’S THE POINT?
New things can be scary, but God will help us to face new things and challenges...especially when we face them together.

This Sunday at 7pm, residents around town and the county are being asked to come outside and make some noise in support of the amazing first responders, healthcare workers, nurses and doctors who are working around the clock to take care of us and keep us safe.

Our family made a banner and put it on our fence to show our support of Nyack Hospital.  If you can take the time and make a poster to support whoever you want to acknowledge, I am sure they will appreciate it.  And remember to set your clocks to 7pm to get outside and make some noise!
